On behalf of the Board of Directors and Officers of the Metropolitan Black Bar Association (the “MBBA”), I would like to thank you for your continued support of this organization. I have the privilege of serving as your President this year. The MBBA is an organization committed to enhancing the careers of African American and other diverse legal professionals in the New York City Metropolitan area. We achieve this endeavor through active training, educational programs and networking opportunities. During my administration, we will continue to build upon the basic principles of the MBBA, including being proactive in meeting the needs of our membership as well as instituting new initiatives that would be beneficial to you and the legal community at large.
Your active participation in the MBBA and its programs, committees and initiatives are vital to ensuring that the MBBA has a meaningful impact on the fabric of our the legal community. Through our joint efforts, we will increase the profile and success of our individual members and the issues that affect our ability to maximize our greatest potential. The MBBA will continue to serve as a central location for you to receive invaluable information regarding programs and initiatives sponsored both locally and nationally by our partner associations, including the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, the New York City Bar, as well as diverse thought leaders including the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, Corporate Counsel Women of Color, the National Bar Association, the Practicing Attorneys for Law Students, Inc., and many more.
As an organization, we are committed to demonstrating our value to you by continually engaging you and our sponsors to ensure that we are meeting your needs. We intend to move forward with a signature series of programs designed to provide unique and meaningful skills to our members by leveraging the wealth of internationally recognized talent within our membership.
A key part to our success in serving you will be the use of technology as a means to exchange ideas and effectively communicate. Toward that end, I encourage to you to join the MBBA on FACEBOOK, LinkedIn, and the MBBA listserv and coming soon, follow us on Twitter @ MBBANYC!
In closing, I am excited to serve you. I ask that you “meet me in the middle” and volunteer to serve on our various committees. I invite you to send me a note at president@mbbanyc.org so we can further discuss how this organization can assist you in showcasing your talents, enhancing your professional development or perhaps address issues facing our community. I look forward to working with you.
