MBBA General Body Membership Meeting – 9/21/20 Virtual
Sep 21 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Join President Anta Cisse-Green and the Officers and Board of Directors of the MBBA for the September MBBA Membership Meeting

You are invited to attend the MBBA‘s Quarterly Membership Meeting on Monday, September 21st at 6:00 pm via the Zoom virtual platform. Learn more about the MBBA and how you can become active in our various Sections and Divisions.

There will also be a special 60 minute presentation by the Black Gotham Experience with Kamau Ware about the impact of the African Diaspora on the making of New York City and the birth of the United States of America. The presentation will focus on the Other Side of Wall Street story that starts in 1643 with the beginning of a small town known as Land of the Blacks in the Dutch colony of New Netherland. By 1655, the Land of the Blacks was over twice the size of SoHo today and it continued to exist after the English took the island from the Dutch, making it the first free Black community in New York. This story explains how this community started and how it continued to exist into the 18th century. Other Side of Wall Street concludes on the first day of British New York in September 1664.

Sponsored by Allen & Overy’s Black & Latinx Affinity Group.
