#MBBALearns: MBBA Support Sessions for Black Law Firm Associates (Session 2)

The Metropolitan Black Bar Association

In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the MBBA will be hosting a series of 60-minute sessions for black law firm associates intended to provide career support. Each session will feature two black law firm partners (one transactional and one litigation) and will be moderated by Paula Edgar, Partner, Inclusion Strategy Solutions LLC, and MBBA Officer.

Each session will be shaped by questions and concerns submitted anonymously prior to each session, however topics during these frank conversations with associates may include:

1. Anxiety around firm cuts and furloughs and staying prepared for any outcome

2. Hours - how to get work (staying productive with billable/non-billable work)

3. What to do if hours expectations are unclear or cannot be achieved due to lower client demand

4. Mental health support/dealing with feeling overwhelmed, disconnected and isolated

5. Professional development /branding
