Ms. Reid-Green has worked in the public sector for over 27 years. She is an Assistant General Counsel at New York City Transit Authority, currently serving as Unit Chief-Kings Examination and Practice Unit in the Law Department-Torts Division. She oversees a staff of 20 Attorneys, Paralegals and Investigators. Prior to her appointment as Unit Chief, she headed the Richmond County arm of the Queens/Richmond Trial Unit for 18 years, where she conferenced, settled and tried cases. She also serves as a mentor and instructor to Interns, newly minted Attorneys and Paralegals.
Ms. Reid-Green has a long-standing commitment to the Bar. She has served as a Board Member of the Metropolitan Black Bar Association (MBBA) since 2015. She is also an active member of the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York where she serves as Treasurer. She has also chaired both their 2016 Voter Registration Drive and 2017 Convention Committees. Ms. Reid-Green served as President of the Staten Island Women’s Bar Association (SIWBA) from 2013-2015. She proudly brought membership roles to new heights, and re-established the SIWBA as a relevant bar association in Richmond County. She also held the office of SIWBA Corresponding Secretary, sat on the Bylaws Committee and has organized CLEs, networking and other events for the members and the community.
Ms. Reid-Green has Ms. Reid-Green also sits as a member of the Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commission-Second Department where she interviews and screens prospective candidates for the judiciary. She has also served as a scoring judge for the Empire Mock Trial Competition.
Ms. Reid-Green’s dedication to service to the community has been evidenced by her seat on the Board of the Staten Island Historical Society since 2014. She currently serves as Second Vice President and Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee for the organization. She is a past Vice President of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.-Brooklyn Chapter (2010-2012), an organization dedicated to providing philanthropic efforts/services to the children and families of Kings and Richmond Counties. She served on their Executive Committee for many years in many key roles. She is a member of Soroptimist International-Staten Island Chapter where she currently serves at the Chapter-Delegate. She is a past member of the National Council of Negro Woman-Staten Island and annual volunteer with the NAACP-Annual HBCU College Fair on Staten Island.
Ms. Reid-Green was honored to receive the 2015 MBBA Bar Leader of the Year Award at the MBBA Annual Gala, and the 2015 Staten Island Black History Month Town Hall Meeting Award for Community Service.
Ms. Reid-Green is a 1989 graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Law. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University at Buffalo. She is married to Richard Green, a guitarist with The Eturnity Band. They have two daughters, Naja Green and Gabrielle Green, graduates of the prestigious Howard University, Washington D.C.
